‘Home’ as an Air Force brat means not necessarily where you lived the
longest, but where feels like home. My hometown is Niceville, FL, and
yes, it is a real place. My years there included lots of hugs, Friday night
football games, and the grocery store attendant calling me ‘sweetheart.’ My childhood revolved around the water. Bayous, bays, and of course, the Gulf of Mexico, which is through and through a part of me.
